So you want to become a teacher?

Because the job of teaching is so important, teachers in public schools must be licensed by the state.  To be licensed, a number guidelines must be met.  A certain grade point average must be maintained and there are course requirements.   For example, teachers must have taken two semesters of a language, and there are other state mandates.  The Teacher Education Program and the Graduate School of Education work within New Jersey guidelines and also have requirements of their own. 

Be sure to start planning early, take charge of your career, and talk to us!  A little planning and effort will guide you past any obstacles and get you out doing your part to shape the world.
